1861 Census shows that he was 57 years of age, born in Mile End, Middlesex and living in 5 Bromley Street, Stepney, Middlesex.
1871 Census shows that he was 67 years of age, born in London, Middlesex and living in 115 Bromley Street, Stepney, Middlesex.

Parish records at the time of his daughter, Emily's christening show that he was a Bricklayer.
1861 Census shows that he was a Retired Builder.
Died whilst residing in Bromley Street, Ratcliff, London. His burial date was 20th December 1878. He was buried in Tower Hamlets Cemetery, he was 75 years of age, the ceremony was performed by F Birch.
Died at the age of 75 on December 20th, 1878.
