Harriet was born in 1836. Harriet's father was

James Goody and
Sarah Smith. She had a brother and three sisters, named

Emma. She was the second oldest of the five children.
Parish records show that she was christened in St Andrews Church, Halstead, Essex on 5th April 1836 by William Adams and that her father was a Carpenter.
1841 Census shows that she was 5 years of age, born in the county of Essex and living at Manfield, Halstead, Essex.
