George Goody
George was born on July 17th, 1923. George's father was
James Edward Goody and his mother was
Mary Jane Robson. His paternal grandparents were
William Goody and
Martha Bird. He had two brothers and two sisters, named
Norman,
Cecil,
Elsie and
Joyce. He was the oldest of the five children.
He was born in Greenside, County Durham and his birth was registered between July-Sept 1923 in Gateshead Registration District.
1939 Register shows that he was living in 6 Skern Grove, Consett, County Durham.
He emigrated to New Zealand in 1953 at 30 years of age as he saw no future working in the mines in County Durham.

George and
June were married on February 27th, 1960. They had two sons named
David and
Robert.
After George emigrated to New Zealand in 1953 he met his wife, June Tibbs, whilst she (an Australian) was on a working holiday in New Zealand.
They were married in Brisbane, Australia and moved there to be near June's family.
