James was born on October 7th, 1854.  James' father was James Frederic Goody and his mother was Emma Draper.  His paternal grandparents are James Goody and Harriet ?????. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Harry, Emma and Fanny.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Arthur, Albert, Alice, Elizabeth and Florence.
