Male Basil Arthur Hutton

Basil was born on February 18th, 1878.  Basil's father is John Hutton and his mother was Esther Humm.  His paternal grandparents were John Hutton and Martha Polley. He had two brothers named Frederick and Harry.  He was the second oldest of the three children.

General Notes

Birth was registered between Jan-Mar 1878 in Lexden Registration District.
1881 Census shows that he was 3 years of age, born in Stanway, Essex and living in Gladstone Terrace, Colchester, Essex.
1891 Census shows that he was 13 years of age, born in Essex and boarding in Maldon Road, Birch, Essex.
UK, Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services show that he served between 18th February 1896 to 16th February 1908, he started out as a Boy Seaman and progressed up to Able Seaman.  His service number was 172657.
1901 Census shows that he was 23 years of age, born in Colchester, Essex and his residence was shown as Royal Navy At Sea And In Ports Abroad.
Records show that between 1914 and 1918 he was shown on the UK, Naval Medal and Award Rolls as having been awarded the 1914-1915 Star, Victory and British War Medal medals.  They were issued to him personally. 
He was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal in 1916 whilst serving as an Able Bodied Seaman.
He left the Navy on 21st May 1919.

1901 Census shows that he was an Able Seaman.

Death Notes

Death was registered between July-Sept 1954 in Colchester Registration District at 76 years of age. Died at the age of 76 in 1954.
