Sarah was born in 1843. Sarah's father was
Charles Goody and her mother was
Abigail Pirkis. Her paternal grandparents were
Abraham Goody and
Mahala Argent. She had three sisters named

Maria. She was the second oldest of the four children.
1851 Census shows that she was 8 years of age, born in Tilbury Juxta Clare, Essex and living at Tilbury Hill, Tilbury Juxta Clare, Essex.
