Montague was born on June 6th, 1896.  Montague's father was William Goody and his mother was Eliza Susannah Harden.  His paternal grandfather was Job Goody and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Smith. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Bert, Ella and Marie.  He was the youngest of the five children.
