1851 Census shows that he was 36 years of age, born in Tilbury Juxta Clare, Essex and living in Belchamp Otten, Essex. This census shows his surname as GOODEY.
1861 Census shows that he was 40 years of age, born in Tilbury Juxta Clare, Essex and living at The Shop, Otten Belchamp, Essex. The census shows his surname as GOODEY.
National Probate and Will records show the following:
12 June. The Will of John Goody late of Belchamp Otten in the County of Essex Grocer and Draper deceased who died 5 May 1866 at Belchamp Otten aforesaid was proved at Ipswich by the oath of Elizabeth Goody of BelchampOtten aforesaid Widow the Relict the sole Executrix.

Died at the age of 50 on May 5th, 1866.
