William Goodey
William was born in 1834. William's father was
Thomas Goody and his mother was
Elizabeth Sergeant. His paternal grandparents were
William Goody and
Elizabeth Church. He had six brothers and five sisters, named

Henry,
Edward,
David,
Elizabeth,
Susanna,
Mary Ann,
Sophia and
Emma. He was the oldest of the twelve children.
Parish records show that he was christened in St Andrews Church, Halstead, Essex on 9th April 1833 by William Adams. His father, Thomas, was a Bricklayer at the time.
